  • Very neat little rig! There should be a way to hook the snow blower up to the tractors PTO and eliminate the Brigs engine completely. But I can see a down side to that, this system is like live power, you can stop the tractor without stopping the snow blower.Very Cool!!

  • Thanks Dale for the nice comment. As you can see there is a pulley on the top of the engine running to the back of the tractor. It is connected to the tractor PTO. This is how I power start that Kohler engine on the snowblower. Works very well.

  • I agree with Dale, a really cool combination especially with the PTO engine start. Did you engineer this yourself or is it like a Kit? How does the Cub handle the blower with-out chains? Ken
Dave wrote on Thursday, January 03, 2019 (PST):
  • Its all engineered by me. I studied how cubs were originally set up with a front blade. I got an old blade mount and connected it to the snow blower.Had to make all the pieces that connect it to the tractor. Turned out very well. Still waiting on snow to try it out but I have no doubt it will work just fine. Running tests were all successful. That 15 hp Kohler should handle that 42" 2 stage blower pretty good.

  • One last thing; do you use like a belt tensioner or tightener to engage & disengage the pto to the gas engine? Thanks, Ken
Dave wrote on Friday, January 04, 2019 (PST):
  • I tension the belt with a weight box. I tried springs and was not happy with the way it worked. The weight box solved my tension problem. I can try to get a good pic of it if you would like to see it.

  • Thats OK Dave, I was just curious how you tightened it to start, & then loosen the belt to run once the engine is started.
Ken Cepek wrote on Sunday, January 06, 2019 (PST):
  • Dave, I still would like to know if (& how) you have to loosen the belt when in run mode. Thanks, Ken
Dave wrote on Sunday, January 06, 2019 (PST):
  • I don't have to loosen the belt after starting it. All you have to do is disengage the pto. The pto will just free spin when the snow blower is running.
